This portfolio includes Wind, Solar, Energy Storage and Hydro facilities. The position will be primarily focused on providing engineering support to our Wind Generation fleet. This position will feature a combination of office and field work and focuses on balance of plant equipment and electrical characteristics of our wind turbines. This position will perform a variety of tasks including but not limited to: Support both our existing Wind Farms as well as provide support for New Wind Development.Engineering related to the Electrical and Control systems of Wind Turbines.Balance of Plant engineering related to operation and maintenance activities concerning substation and collector systems.Arc Flash analysis from the substation into the turbineNERC compliance activities including active role in providing expertise in relay systems and turbine electrical parameters.The ideal candidate will possess the following: Familiarity with various types of Wind TurbinesPower Electrical Engineering backgroundUnderstanding of Voltage Support including both Wind Turbine inverter based technologies, and/or fixed and dynamic VAR systems.Familiarity with wind farms and their major systemsStrong Project Management Experience.Other Information: This position may be filled at a higher level based on candidates qualificationsThis position may require up to 10% travelAlliant Energy will not provide sponsorship for an employment visa (e.g. H-1B visa) now or in the future for this position

Job Responsibilities Performs detail work on fault studies and an understanding of protection schemes. Responsible to translate this information in programming Schweitzer relays and arc flash applications to balance of plant. Annually review systems for update. Work with field technicians to implement settings and procedures.Utilizes modeling information to understand voltage requirements to program equipment. Able to analyze and make changes to systems as needed. Systems include Wind Turbine controls, substation voltage equipment, Substation reactive power equipment. Develops sound expertise around turbine electrical parameters to troubleshoot problems in the generator and electrical systems. Able to articulate and develop scopes of work for maintenance and corrective action activities associated with balance of plant and turbine equipmentMakes low risk decisions that involve direct application of technical knowledge which may have impact on multiple departments of companyAssists in developing and implementing standards for turbine fleet as operational experience grows. Compliance support for applicable NERC electrical standards related to our wind farms. Good project management skills to hire engineering expertise where technical knowledge is not present. Performs work on a variety of assignments of moderate scope and complexity using established procedures under limited supervision.Makes safety suggestions to assist in maintaining a safe work environment.Develops an awareness of customer needs and expectations and propose solutions for moderately complex issues. Participates in the identification and solution of problems falling within assigned area of responsibility with guidance from supervisor.Applies governmental and organizational engineering standards.Interprets policy and exercises discretion and independent judgment in resolving moderately complex problems.Demonstrates the development of critical thinking skills necessary to develop recommendations which provide technically sound and the most cost effective solutions applied to a specific problem.Demonstrates the ability to work with the customer to develop an acceptable scope document, budget and schedule for assigned work in order to complete assignments on time and within budget.Makes low risk decisions that involve direct application of technical knowledge with proper sign off from customer and minimal guidance form supervisor.Participates and makes positive, supportive contributions on teams as assigned.May provide guidance to less experienced staff members. Has established effective working relationships with employees, contractors, customers, functional groups and peers. Communicates with vendors, field construction, operations personnel, and internal stakeholders. Documents project activities and decisions for future reference.Applies the chart of accounts appropriately to MAXIMO. Can differentiate between capital and maintenance projects in accordance with the property unit catalog. Is proficient in structuring ERP requests (i.e., requisitions, purchase order structure and processing receipt approvals). Navigates COGNOS and can interpret the available project reports (PC400 & 500) to assure SOX compliance.All other duties as assigned.
