Co-op services Credit Union Database Administrator I in Des Moines, Iowa
CO-OP Financial Services is currently recruiting a Database Administrator I to join our Enterprise Information Services team. This position is located in Des Moines, IA.
Under direct supervision, this position develops, tests, maintains, and supports company databases. Position helps ensure databases are secure, scalable, and optimized for end-user performance. Responsible for analyzing and troubleshooting database related issues and providing solutions to those problems.
What your day will look like:
Develop and maintain new and existing database systems.
Proactively pursues development opportunities, learns existing environment and processes and exhibits progress on learning plan.
Build strong internal and external partnerships
Actively supports the strategic future, culture and leadership practices
Create and maintain basic to moderately complex database systems for the benefit of internal and external customers.
Assist in the development of technical database design documents.
Provide initial unit testing of all database development and enhancements with the goal of providing a stable production environment while optimized for end-user performance.
Utilize change management software and follow all change management processes
Builds and maintains database systems in such a way that exceeds regulatory requirements. Security is a critical design requirement and data, systems, and applications must be protected at all points of the development lifecycle.
In order to be a production member of the database administration team it’s imperative to learn key processes that support the database environment. This includes shadowing team members in order to learn existing processes using the tools necessary to learn and document those processes with the goal of being able to play a role in a production support rotation.
Identifies development opportunities and works with manager to establish learning focus and learning plan
Manages learning plan and reports on progress during one-on-ones with supervisor.
Provide after-hours and weekend support as required
We are looking for an individual with 1+ year of experience working with SQL, T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS, database design and development along with a BS in Computer Science / Computer Information Systems or equivalent degree, or equivalent experience can be substituted for degree. Preferred 1+ year’s previous data analysis/development experience along with knowledge of finance and credit card systems is preferred.
To perform this job successfully, the individual must have basic knowledge of Modern OS architecture concepts and communications protocols, basic knowledge of SSRS, SSIS, T-SQL, MS SQL Server 2008 R2 – 2016, networking concepts, and database design and development and basic knowledge of database backup concepts, query optimization, and data security. In addition, we are looking for someone with fundamental knowledge of software development methodologies, design and implementation along with knowledge of entire development process, including specification, documentation and quality assurance.
Beginning analytical, design and problem-solving skills at multi-product/multi-environment level to troubleshoot system defects and mitigate the issues they cause.
Beginning skills in research and analysis, project planning and implementation. Understanding and awareness of business issues as they impact overall project plans.
Good verbal and written communications skills, with an ability to express and document complex technical concepts in business terms. Person must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with technical staff, non-technical staff, end-users for requirements gathering, testing, training, and outcome validation.
Good team-oriented interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional project team environment.
Fundamental understanding of concepts of project planning and project management techniques to assist in small projects and/or group initiatives.
