SUMMARY: Performs laboratory tests to determine chemical and physical characteristics and composition of materials for purposes of quality control, process control, and product conformance to standards by performing the following duties.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.-Set up, adjust and operate laboratory equipment and instruments such as microscope, solids analyzer, milko tester, refractometer, scales and other equipment as needed.-Test materials used in packaging or as ingredients for purity, stability, viscosity or other standard characteristics.-Test samples of manufactured products to verify conformity to specifications.-Plate all products to test for microbial standards on coliform, standard plate count, yeast and mold plates or other methods as needed.-Read plates and record test results on standardized forms and write test reports. Prepare graphs and charts as needed. Enter all data into computer files.-Clean, sanitize and sterilize laboratory equipment. Calibrate equipment as needed.-Prepare agar and chemicals as needed.-Check and monitor yogurt, sour cream, buttermilk and other cultured products and respond to non-conforming results.-Replenish chemicals for CIP (cleaned-in-place) units. Titrate cleaning solutions for proper concentration.-Weigh ingredients used in the manufacture of cultured products.-Responsible for the food safety and the food quality of products manufactured when present at the facility due to the integral part of the laboratory's actions when working around production equipment.Benefits available after 30 days employment
