With a focus on energy, water, transportation and the environment, we bring global knowledge, a century of experience, and multi-disciplinary capabilities to serve our private and public clients.We are currently seeking a Senior Design Technician - Transportation to work in our Des Moines office.This position will perform transportation related design tasks including:Roadway geometric design, intersection and interchange geometric design, civil infrastructure design, concept development, and plan and specification preparation.Some investigative field work may be required as necessary on projects.The successful candidate will exercise independent judgment in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to make design adaptations and modifications, and be accountable to a Project Lead/Manager.This position requires working knowledge of Local Roads and Primary Highway Systems projects with emphasis in location and design development, and final design.RequirementsCollect and analyze data from reports, maps, drawings, tests, and aerial photographs to plan and design projects.Proficient in using Iowa DOT standards for plan preparation and design requirements.Must have familiarity with AASHTO design methods, standards and specifications.Working knowledge of design software (Microstation, Geopak, Corridor Modeler, Open Roads) used to prepare engineering and design documents.Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).Prepare and plot drawing packages for internal review and client submittals, following company and client file naming conventions.Adhere to office and client graphics quality control program.
