Persons appointed to this position will receive the privileges and benefits associated with regular employment status.Duties:ResearchManage multiple research projects requiring high levels of functional integration.Critically review literature for the purposes of furthering the research and developing new hypotheses in conjunction with the Program Director.Contribute to preparation and renewal of IRB protocol submissions or equivalent protocol submissions.Conduct ExperimentsSupport epidemiologic and experimental research and manage all phases of the research projects.Maintain confidentiality of data collected.Analyze and Summarize Data; Prepare Reports; Contribute to Manuscripts, PublicationsMeasure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques to monitor progress and prepare progress reports.Contribute to research projects as evidenced by documented recognition in publications as an author or for technical assistance.Participate in quality control efforts and implementation of ongoing technical and operational changes.Administrative and Project ManagementFacilitate the ultimate success of research projects by working to monitor cost, scheduled progress, and project performance.Manage changes to project scope, project schedule, and project budget using appropriate tools and techniques.Establish deadlines to ensure research protocol requirements are met.Manage complex processes, external relationship development, and project/process leadership.Facilities and Equipment ManagementPrepare short- and long-term plans for all aspects of assigned research projects.Participate in public relations activities, including conducting presentations in educational programs.Supervision/StaffingWork with the Program Director to manage the performance of research staff.Ensure research staff compliance with UI policies and procedures.Collaborate with all staff to create and maintain a high quality research program.Note: Five (5) professional references may be requested at a later step in the process.Education Required:Requires a master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience in epidemiology, human health science, basic science, or informatics.Experience Required:3-5 years of research project management experience, including experience with development and submission of IRB applications.3-5 years of supervisory/management experience of research staff.Good verbal and written communication skills, including some public speaking experience.Demonstrated ability to function independently.Experience with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, project management, and database software, including Microsoft Office.Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.Desirable Qualifications:Training or certification in project management is highly desirable.Experience preparing manuscripts, reports, charts, and other documents of a technical and scientific nature is highly desirable.Knowledge of University policies, procedures, and regulations is highly desirable.Experience in epidemiologic research of birth defects or cancer is highly desirable.Experience conducting statistical data analysis, including using SAS.Laboratory experience in molecular biology, genetics, or other basic science.Online Application OptionsApplication Type:This job requires basic applicant information, plus a resume.
