Henning Companies LLC Quality Control and Safety Inspector in Johnston, Iowa

We have a great opportunity for a Quality Control and Safety Inspector to join our team. Reporting to Vice President of Operations, this position is responsible for ensuring the quality of all work safely meets or exceeds the contract specifications and standard of excellence for Henning Companies. This position will assist the team with delivery of the project within established goals for quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Position Summary:

  • Promote a culture that encourages a quality finished product for all projects and clients

  • Developing, administering, and monitoring the Quality Control Plan and ensuring incorporated materials on construction projects are in compliance with plans and specifications

  • Assuring that the workmanship, materials used, and processes performed as required by the contract meets or exceeds the required qualities

  • Conduct regular job site quality control inspections

  • Coordinate with the Superintendent and Project Manager all quality matters

  • Discuss quality control inspection results with those responsible for the workmanship or materials used and recommend corrective action if necessary

  • Coordinate with management for quality improvements

  • Prepare, distribute, and maintain site specific quality control inspection reports

  • Issue and track nonconformance reports

  • Promote a culture that encourages safe conduct

  • Promote and enforce company and project specific safety programs in accordance with federal, state, and local safety standards

  • Conduct regular project safety inspections

  • Discuss safety inspection results with those responsible and recommend necessary corrective action

  • Prepare, distribute, and maintain site specific safety inspection reports


  • BS in Construction or Safety Management or equivalent and 5 years of work experience or 10 years of relevant construction management and safety experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the construction industry with a general contractor

  • OSHA 500 trained and in good standing

  • Proficient with spreadsheets, Email and other software used in the construction industry

  • OSHA 30, 1st Aid, and CPR in good standing

  • Availability and ability to travel regularly to job sites

  • Ability to work with and communicate effectively with subcontractors, Superintendents, Project Managers, consultants, and owner’s representatives

  • Ability to record and organize all necessary documentation to memorialize the implementation, maintenance, and effectiveness of the Quality Control Program

  • Ability to identify safety deficiencies and record safety inspection results

  • Good communication and effective listening

  • Ability to exercise good judgment

  • Understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word, MS Project, etc.
