Summary

The Network Engineer is responsible to implement, develop, plan, recommend, support and maintenance of new and existing systems. The Network Engineer will also monitor and analyze systems and networks. Prepare related recommendations and standard operating procedures to address existing and potential technology risks. The ability to provide guidance and recommendations on technology trends to the organization.

Responsibilities (include but not limited to)

  • Establishes networking and server environments by developing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.

  • Maximizes network and server performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with the team on system optimization.

  • Secures network and server systems by establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access.

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

  • Accomplishes information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

  • Reporting network and server operational status by gathering, prioritizing information; managing projects.

  • Monitoring network and server performance and ensure system availability and reliability.

  • Configuring and installing various network devices (Cisco Meraki, HP Switches) and services (e.g. routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QOS-Quality of Service)

  • Configuring and installing various server devices and services (e.g. physical servers, virtual servers (Hyper-V), Windows server 2012R2, Active Directory, Hybrid Exchange 2016/Office 365

  • Performing network maintenance and server system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations.

  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.

  • Provide support and troubleshooting to resolve issues.

  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.

  • Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company's established IT policies.

  • Coordinate with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.

Skills for success

  • Proven hands-on network and server engineering experience, experience with monitoring, diagnostic and analytics tools.

  • Ability to work closely in a cohesive team environment and excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to talk in a non-technical way.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently to bring assignments to satisfactory completion in a timely manner.

  • Ability to help develop architecture and standards for implementation and support of highly complex systems.

  • Analyzes and evaluates information systems operations and can provide recommendations to improve operations and utilization.

  • Certifications in Microsoft, VMware, Citrix is a helpful

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Technology related field

  • 5+ years experience or combination of education and experience

  • Working knowledge in or related to firewalls, Microsoft Windows servers, Microsoft SQL servers, Microsoft Exchange, and Microsoft SharePoint. Experience creating and deploying application packages, managing active directory, group policies, DNS
