Summary

The Associate CNC Programmer is responsible for operating machines within the machine shop to produce parts to dimensional tolerances called out on CAD drawings. These Programmers make complex modifications to existing CNC programs based on component specifications, as well as adjust feeds and speeds to maintain the best cutting conditions to maximize the tool life.

Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.

  • Uses calipers, micrometers, or other types of measurement devices to check part dimensions.

  • Reads print drawings and check part dimensions against print tolerances.

  • Maintains equipment in clean, good working order.

  • Evaluates machine processes and programs for efficiency.

  • Makes modifications to existing programs from design drawings.

  • Troubleshoots machines during the manufacturing process.

  • Trains machine operators on procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to learn and understand all levels of machine operations; multiple machine functionality.

  • Ability to focus and pay close attention to detail while managing and prioritizing multiple tasks.

  • Ability to use or learn to use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.

  • Ability to evaluate tooling wear for determining and regulating speed and feed rates of machines.

  • Ability to work and communicate within a team setting.

  • Ability to recognize defects, out-of-tolerance measurements and escalate those matters to management.

  • Ability to read blueprint drawings.

  • Ability to modify machine programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One to three years’ work experience.

  • Ability to operate all machines within the facility

  • Experience working in a production environment using heavy industrial equipment and/or machinery.
