Wells Fargo Application Systems Engineer 5 in West Des Moines, Iowa

The Enterprise Inventory & Reporting Team is looking for an Application Systems Engineer to assist with support and development of new applications and tools for end user device management priorities. These Enterprise-wise supported initiatives are housed under the HR and Team Member Technologies group.

The Application Systems Engineer is a critical role in helping Technology with achieving its operational short and longer term goals supporting a variety of critical enterprise-based initiatives that allow us to drive forward with new solutions and adhere to achieving our safety and soundness goals, implementing regulatory compliance standards while delving into new business requirements and environmental demands differently. This position demands a very action-oriented strategic focus, and critical thinking implementation techniques, safeguarded and well risk versed. Our goal is to support the greater vision, serving as an informational gateway for data intelligence and ultimately drive decision making, motivate change while we mitigate risk for the organization.

This position will be required to enhance, build and deliver new and existing application components and functionality which will require extremely savvy business acumen and consulting skills, ability to understand and translate the business and technical requirements into stages of development in order to ensure full completion of requirements in agreed time frame. Engineer will serve as technical SME and a driver for developer conference requirements and will partner with SCRUM, Business Systems Consultant(s) to review business and technical requirements and specifications, Production Support, and business partners (as needed) for the lifecycle of project to conduct all project tasks, including mandatory compliance and regulatory activities in adherence to SDLC. To ensure all safety and soundness requirements are adhered to:

Engineer will partner with Tech Writers and Process Consultants to create/maintain required technical documentation. Position requires new obligations for peer reviews, detailed testing scripts in partnership with QA team and mandates of SDLC, ALM and QA guidelines. Candidate will be a technical SME for the technology, application, architecture, and data structures built.

Engineer will be expected to coordinate with our internal business units and leadership, communicate expectations and progress. Candidate must be solution and detail oriented, creating competitive advantage through various technologies and solid foundation of design methodologies. Expectations include:

  • Analyzing highly complex business requirements, designing and writes technical specifications to design or redesign complex computer platforms and applications. This includes: design/build new applications and work on existing applications

  • Participate in efforts related and driven toward our TMT vault, including software module development for products that assist our business partners run their day to day operations. All of which falls under required knowledge of database development, architecture, application validation and usability, and UI Design

  • Verifying program logic by overseeing the preparation of test data, testing and debugging of programs

  • Overseeing overall systems testing and the migration of platforms and applications from development through to production

  • Developing new documentation, departmental technical procedures and user guides. * Assuring quality, security and compliance requirements are met for supported area and oversees creation of or updates to and testing of the business continuation plan

  • Troubleshooting production issues and work with team members to effectively resolve problems that may impact multiple platforms

  • Developing and maintaining enterprise level data storage and reporting repositories.

  • Following or improving consulting, design, and communication best practices

  • Obtaining, considering and involving line of business feedback in design improvements

  • Ability to observe, conduct and increase performance optimization and conduct data profiling

  • Ability to do data modeling by defining and analyzing data requirements needed to support the business processes in various organizations and implement modeling in a fashion to administer/organize it for business intelligence engineering

  • Ability to evaluate, implement security structure and manage security access for applications and reporting

  • May assist/provide coding direction to less experienced staff or develop highly complex original code

Note: May be required to work outside of normal working hours to implement scheduled change controls or resolve critical database, application and server related issues.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of application development and implementation experience
