Wells Fargo Oper Systems Engineer 5 - Splunk in West Des Moines, Iowa

Provide technical support for issues related to systems, applications, and tools used by the business units. Participate in quality assurance testing and user acceptance testing of technology components related to monitoring tools. Provide support for Infrastructure monitoring tools including but not limited to: Splunk, HP OpenView (HP OVO), HP Operations Manager(OMi), and System Center Operations Manager (SCOM). Develop and/or update technical process and procedure documentation for user/support team training. Demonstrate problem solving, analytical, and multi-tasking skills. Perform on call support duties for critical applications. Assist with scheduling and performing OS maintenance (patching updates) related tasks as required across all Distributed/Infrastructure servers supported by team. Perform triage and troubleshooting techniques to resolve incidents and quickly restore business services. Identify and troubleshoot chronic incidents, make decisions on recovery actions and transfer knowledge to lower level technology engineers and/or vendors when handling complex issues. Respond to break/fix issues, escalating as needed. Ensure compliance to incident management and Risk policies, coordinating and enforcing change management policies. Work independently and as a member of a high performance, geographically dispersed team. Demonstrate leadership qualities when negotiating customer concerns, project briefings, consultations, and technical duties.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of operating systems analysis experience, operating systems engineering experience, or a combination of both

  • 3+ years of Splunk experience

  • 5+ years of Server experience

  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization

  • Knowledge and understanding of lifecycle management, including implementation, maintenance, patching, health checks, capacity planning, and decommissioning

  • Advanced problem solving and technical troubleshooting capabilities

  • Knowledge and understanding of distributed servers platform

  • Knowledge and understanding of technology architecture: distributed and client server technologies

  • Experience leading, training, and providing feedback to staff and corresponding managers

  • Knowledge and understanding of technology support: open tickets or calls with vendors--

  • Ability to manage tools that support infrastructure initiatives (development, testing and production deployment)

  • Knowledge and understanding of Windows OS administration

  • Knowledge and understanding of UNIX

  • Knowledge and understanding of technical documentation
