Core Responsibilities Hiring for Night ShiftSuccessfully completes a Road Test and be issued a certificateProperly prepares and evaluates equipment pre-trip and post-tripWorks in single driver environment Handles shipping documents to ensure accuracy and timely submissionPositions equipment properly to safely offload feed into feed binsDrives day/night in variety of climates and trafficMaintains logs, DVIR, itinerary, and other paperwork as requiredFuels up equipment and properly uses on-board computer (or turns in logs) dailyPre-loads trailer for next shift.Handles shipping documents to ensure accuracy and timely submissionUses Farm Directions Book, maps or GPS to avoid getting lost or going out-of-routeComplies with all Bio-Security (BMS) and Environmental (EMS) management system's rules and regulationsComplies with DOT rules and regulationsComplies with all Smithfield established policies and proceduresReports any loading or delivery errors to dispatch immediatelyReports problems encountered on the farm through the office copy of the Feed Delivery TicketReads and understands the Smithfield emergency notification process knowing how and who to contact in case of an emergencyOpens and closes (locks) and sign in/out at farm when requiredThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions.High School Diploma or GED required.Meet DOT requirementsAt least 21 years of ageNo DUI/DWI or reckless driving convictions in last 10 yearsNo DOT Recordable preventable accidents within the last three (3) years with a CMVNo more than one (1) moving violation within the last three (3) yearsMeet minimum requirements to operate a CMV and have a current valid CDL issued from only one State Knowledge of FMCSR1 year CDL experience desired or completion of 3rd Party Training Ability to converse with our business associates to resolve problems in a civil mannerAbility to calculate simple mathematical problems dealing with feed deliveryMust be able to pass a DOT Physical upon initial hireMay require tandem endorsementFeed delivery experience preferredComplete all required information on the CDL Driver Application For Employment Be able to read and speak the English languageBe able to respond to official inquiries and make entries on reports and recordsAbility to hook up trailer to tractor, that includes backing under the trailer, raising landing gear and hooking up airlinesHandle manual transmissionMust be able to pass DOT physical upon initial hireAbility to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
