The North Polk Community School District is a progressive educational community located in the Des Moines metro area just north of Ankeny serving the communities of Alleman, Elkhart, Polk City, and Sheldahl. The District proudly serves over 2200 learners from preschool through 12th grade in five buildings (West Elementary, PK thru 2nd; Big Creek Elementary, 3rd-5th; Central Elementary, PK thru 5th, Middle School, 6th-8th; and High School, 9th-12th). North Polk is seeking to hire an Operations Administrative Assistant, located in Alleman, Iowa. Compensation: $22.87 – 23.68 per hour, based on qualificationsDays: 260 (year round)Hours: Full time employment 40 hours per weekBenefits: IPERS, paid leaves (personal, sick, vacation), district paid premiums for individual medical, dental, life, and vision. Eligibility to opt into coverage for other dependents and other coverages. Reports to: Director of TechnologyJob Goal: To provide administrative support to the technology, operations and transportation departments in a professional, effective, and efficient manner.Qualifications:

  • Strong computer skills, including Google Suite, Excel, and the ability to quickly learn new software

  • Positive internal and external customer service skills

  • Excellent communication skills, including written and oral

  • Flexible duties that could include moderate physical activity

General Responsibilities:

  • Performs administrative and clerical tasks

  • Enter invoice data into requisition software

  • Being able to operate internal systems including door control and camera systems

  • Facilitates follow up calls and meetings with vendors as needed

  • Match invoices to packing slips and purchase orders

  • Maintain confidentiality in the school operation

  • Ability to assist with various departments within the district during times of staffing shortages

  • Start and maintain fixed asset spreadsheets and enter into the appropriate database

  • Maintain a spreadsheet with all bus routes/activities to track time and miles

  • Duties as assigned

    Physical Demands:

  • Most work is performed while sitting, standing or walking.

  • Can include moderate physical activity

  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent
