Job Description:

SummaryIowa State University's College of Engineering is seeking a dedicated Administrative Assistant III to join the Dean’s Office team. This position serves as the primary administrative point of contact for the Associate Dean for Engagement and Excellence and Senior Budget and Finance Specialist. Additionally, this role will involve supporting various administrative functions within the Dean’s Office.

Example of Duties • Performs a variety of administrative support activities. • Prepares agendas and non-routine correspondence. • Administers surveys, gathers data, and prepares reports. • Maintains calendar for assigned staff, regularly prioritizing and arranging meetings, conferences, and appointments. • Maintains records, lists, and inventory. • Manages events and makes travel reservations and itineraries.

• Tracks progression of projects and maintains related files. • Participates in regularly scheduled team meetings.

• Provides administrative support to assigned committees.

• Assists with College-level commitments, fiscal and approval processes.

Level Guidelines• Senior-level position possessing high-level professional and/or technical skills working independently under minimal supervision to support ISU’s mission and department or work unit goals• Applies senior-level professional knowledge and expertise to work requiring greater latitude• Solves moderately complex problems and regularly exercises judgment to determine appropriate action• Regularly exercises judgment to resolve problems and determine appropriate action on a broad set of issue and problems. May provide recommendations regarding problems/issues outside the bounds of defined procedures and practices• Responds to complicated inquiries, provides training, and provides direction to lower-level staff.• May provide supervision for one to two other staff (i.e., leads a small work team)• May lead projects for which well-defined practices and procedures may not exist• Provides guidance to students
