Danaher Corporation Assistant Buyer / Planner in Ames, Iowa

POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary role of this position is to support the procurement function and staff by expediting critical part shortages and past due purchase orders as well as performing overall clerical tasks and database maintenance tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist Commodity Specialists in the day-to-day procurement of materials as needed.

  • Investigate/Follow up on supplier delivery issues.

  • Maintain product information within ERP system including but not limited to Lead-time, Lot Size, Min/Max//Fixed/Lot Multiple, Safety Stock, etc. with the assistance of Commodity Specialist where required.

  • Contacting suppliers to expedite delivery of late or critical need purchased parts.

  • Escalates purchasing situations to the Commodity Specialist and Manager.

  • Completion of daily tasks assigned to Supply Chain Associates.

  • Performs systems maintenance supporting departmental needs.

  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets and documents as needed.

  • Assist Commodity Specialists in the search for alternate suppliers.

Other Non-Essential Functions:

  • Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

2 or more years’ experience in purchasing office and two-year college or technical degree

OR

0-2 years’ experience in purchasing with a BA/BS in transportation/logistics,

business, or other relevant degree preferred

SKILLS:

  • Perform daily duties with a sense of urgency.

  • Understanding of Oracle or other similar ERP systems preferred.

  • Must have proficient computer skills including use of Microsoft Office suite

  • Experience in a production planning or materials procurement environment

  • preferred.

  • Must be able to recognize problem areas and address them accordingly.

  • Ability to quickly acquire new knowledge and skills as necessary.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
