Required Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in nursing and 5 years of related experience. Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Iowa or ability to obtain before the start date.

Preferred Qualifications:Bachelors or Masters degree in nursing preferred

Clinic supervisory experience

Experience training or mentoring other RNs, LPNs, and CMAs.

Job Description:

The Thielen Student Health Center (TSHC) is seeking an experienced and dynamic Manager Nursing to lead our nursing and patient services department. This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient operation of the department, maintaining high standards of patient care, and fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Department Leadership
  • Oversee nursing and patient services operations and provide direct patient care as needed.

  • Support strategic planning and set departmental goals.

  • Continuously evaluate and improve services, programs, and safety measures.

  • Maintain policies and procedures for quality improvement and accreditation.

  • Solicit feedback and resolve complaints to refine services.

  1. Personnel Management
  • Lead personnel management, including hiring, supervision, and evaluations.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, respect, inclusion, and innovation.

  • Communicate HR policies, provide feedback, and support employee well-being and professional development.

  1. Financial Management
  • Oversee financial management and collaborate on budget preparation.

  • Monitor financial data, ensure budget goals are met, and prepare the annual department scorecard.

  • Ensure fiscal responsibility and manage revenue streams.

  1. Safety and Risk Management
  • Develop and oversee safety and risk management plans.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.

  • Complete required safety trainings.

  1. University Leadership
  • Act as a liaison between staff, students, and university leadership.

  • Support holistic well-being and health efforts for students.

  • Participate in committees and workgroups.

    Thielen Student Health Center (TSHC) is the on-campus full service health clinic that provides care for students. Our goal is to support overall wellbeing so our students can be successful academically and personally. TSHC provides primary care, urgent care, psychiatry, and sexual health care. The clinic has onsite pharmacy, physical therapy, lab, and radiology services.

Level Guidelines• Aware of key annual objectives of department or work unit• Understands linkage between daily activities and achievement of annual objectives of department/work unit and explains to direct reports• Focus on ISU’s mission and meeting department or work unit goals• Supervises a small department or work team• Often is a working supervisor with direct, previous experience performing work of those supervised• Has full management responsibility for direct reports, specifically the authority to hire, fire, and counsel; may share part of responsibility with higher level management• Requests approval for financial actions beyond a limited scope per policy
