Description

We are assisting our client in Ames, IA in finding them a Telecommunication Foreman. A Telecommunications Foreman plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful implementation of telecommunications projects, from planning to execution, while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. The specific duties may vary based on the scope and nature of the telecommunications project.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day activities at telecommunication project sites.

  • Coordinate with the construction team to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and according to project plans.

  • Plan and execute telecommunication projects, including the installation of communication equipment, cables, and related infrastructure.

  • Develop project timelines, goals, and resource allocation.

  • Supervise the installation of telecommunication equipment, including antennas, towers, routers, switches, and other networking devices.

  • Ensure that installations comply with technical specifications and industry standards.

  • Implement quality control measures to ensure the integrity and functionality of the installed telecommunication infrastructure.

  • Conduct inspections and tests to verify compliance with project requirements.

  • Provide leadership to the telecommunications construction team, assigning tasks and ensuring team members understand their roles.

  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.

  • Act as a liaison between project management, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.

  • Communicate project updates, challenges, and expectations to the team and relevant parties.

  • Identify and address challenges or issues that may arise during the construction process.

  • Make decisions to keep the project on schedule and within budget.

  • Manage and allocate resources such as materials, equipment, and personnel.

  • Monitor resource usage and make adjustments as necessary.

  • Maintain accurate records of project progress, expenses, and relevant information.

  • Prepare and submit reports to project managers and stakeholders.

  • Oversee the testing and commissioning of telecommunication systems to ensure functionality and performance meet project requirements.

  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.

    Requirements

Experience

  • 7+ of experience in telecommunications or a related field is usually required.

  • Supervisory Experience: Prior experience in a supervisory or lead role.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Telecommunications Systems: In-depth knowledge of telecommunications systems, including fiber optics, copper cabling, and wireless technologies.

  • Installation and Maintenance: Proficiency in installing, maintaining, and repairing various types of telecommunications equipment and infrastructure.

  • Tools and Equipment: Familiarity with the tools and equipment used in telecommunications work, including splicing tools, testing equipment, and safety gear.

  • Reading Blueprints: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.

Soft Skills

  • Leadership: Strong leadership and management skills to supervise and coordinate the work of a team.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members, clients, and other stakeholders.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly and effectively.

  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail to ensure quality and compliance with standards.

Physical Requirements

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy equipment and working in various weather conditions.

  • Dexterity: Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling tools and equipment.

  • Climbing: Willingness and ability to climb poles, ladders, and other structures as needed.

Safety and Compliance

  • Safety Practices: Knowledge of and adherence to safety practices and regulations.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Understanding of telecommunications regulations and industry standards.

Additional Requirements

  • Project Management: Skills in planning and managing projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.

  • Customer Service: Ability to interact professionally with customers and address their concerns or questions.
