Job Description:

Iowa State University’s Student Counseling Service (SCS) seeks a Clinical Care Coordinator to provide direct client care to a dynamic and diverse student population.

The Clinical Care Coordinator position will oversee client referral processes at SCS, including providing assessment and referral support for more complex student mental health needs. This position will provide intake and crisis support. Additionally, the Clinical Care Coordinator may provide individual or group counseling as needed. These services are aimed to help students attain their educational, academic, and personal wellness goals.

This position does require applicants to be licensed to provide clinical services.Example of Duties

• Oversee client referral support within the agency. Maintain relationships with community providers and campus partners.

• Meet with students to discuss referral options and connect to campus and community resources.

• Serve on the Care Management Team, providing stabilization and referral services to students who have more complex or high-level mental health needs.

• Provide crisis support on a regular, weekly schedule.

• Serve on the campus SAFE-T team, an interdisciplinary team who monitor student behavior, assess threat, and develop appropriate intervention plans.

• Provides crisis coverage on a regular rotation of staff.

• Provide consultation support to students and campus and community partners regarding referral processes and options.

• Maintain appropriate documentation regarding client treatment services in accordance with agency, state, and professional policy.

• Provide outreach presentations and workshops to support the mission of a university counseling center, as needed.

• Serve as a member of the disposition team, providing intake and crisis support one day per week, as needed.

• Provide individual, group, and workshop services in a brief treatment model as needed.

Level Guidelines• Senior-level position possessing high-level professional and/or technical skills working independently under minimal supervision to support ISU’s mission and department or work unit goals• Applies senior-level professional knowledge and expertise to work requiring greater latitude• Solves moderately complex problems and regularly exercises judgment to determine appropriate action• Regularly exercises judgment to resolve problems and determine appropriate action on a broad set of issue and problems. May provide recommendations regarding problems/issues outside the bounds of defined procedures and practices• Responds to complicated inquiries, provides training, and provides direction to lower-level staff• May provide supervision for one to two other staff (i.e., leads a small work team)• May lead projects for which well-defined practices and procedures may not exist• Provides guidance to students
