Job Description:

The Seed Science Center in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University is seeking candidates for the position Customer Relations Coordinator II. This position will support the seed testing laboratory which provides accurate and professional seed-testing services for members of the seed industry.

This position will provide customer relation services in a service environment and requires knowledge of products and services to make recommendations, resolve issues, builds relationships, and supports marketing and sales. The incumbent will receive and handle customer samples of seeds, generate reports and communicate with existing and potential customers. The majority of the duties will be performed in an office setting where the incumbent will be expected to unpack, organize and enter customer samples into a seed testing database. Additional duties will include interacting with customers in person, by phone and by e-mail. Interaction is for the purpose of selecting proper tests, giving intermediate test results, setting up and maintaining accounts and otherwise providing outstanding customer service. Other responsibilities include print, proof and send reports, conduct billing and organize and file customer correspondence.

The successful candidate will have excellent written and interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with and inform staff, graduate students, undergraduate student employees, and collaborators. The candidate will be detail-oriented and possess the ability to manage multiple, ongoing tasks. The candidate will also be self-motivated and capable of working independently when required. All department members are expected to interact collegially and in a professional manner and maintain the highest standards of integrity and ethics.

Example of Duties • Provides product information, recommendations, and suggestions to meet customer needs. • Explains policies, procedures, and offerings to customers. • Fulfills customer requests, invoices, billing, orders, etc. • Resolves customer issues. • Coordinates special projects. • Maintains and builds customer relationships. • Assists with marketing, promotions, and sales.

• Provides guidance to students • May provide supervision to one to two other staff or lead a small work team
