Job Description:

Summary

The Department of Conference Planning and Management (CPM) with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is seeking qualified candidates for an Event Planner I.

This position will coordinate and administer all support functions and services required by conferences and events through the office of Conference Planning and Management and will communicate programming needs to a wide range of providers for services including logistics, registration, delivery, and marketing. Event and conference coordination requires extensive budget planning, development, preparation and on-site coordination making exceptional organizational skills essential to being successful in this position. The candidate will also possess the ability to interpret data and make recommendations based on the data and the ability to keep up-to-date on new practices.

The successful candidate must possess exceptional organizational skills to be able to coordinate multiple programs at one time that may vary in size and location. Considerable creativity, tact, diplomacy, and flexibility are necessary to work with clients, boards, committees and a wide range of service providers to cover programs as needed. The desired candidate will possess strong customer service acumen and is self driven.

Due to the nature of programs, this person must be available and willing to work weekends, evenings, and possibly holidays.

This is a regular, fixed term position through 6/30/2022, with opportunity for renewal. All accrued vacation must be used during term of appointment or will be forfeited.
