Description

We are assisting our client in Ames, IA in finding a Lead Cable Technician, also known as a Lead Installation Technician. This professional is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing cable systems for various purposes, including television, internet, and telephone services. This person will have ample experience as a Cable Technician, excellent leadership skills, and collaborate with the Project Foreman’s.

Day to Day:

• The laying, terminating, certifying, and pulling cable for projects on new construction and retrofit sites.

• Any new construction and wiring, as well as maintaining current buildouts will be expected of this candidate.

• Provide leadership to the team, assigning tasks and working with the Project Foreman.

• Implement quality control measures to ensure the integrity and functionality of the installed telecommunication infrastructure.

• Conduct inspections and tests to verify compliance with project requirements.

• Assist in the planning and execution of telecommunication projects, including the installation of communication equipment, cables, and related infrastructure.

• Collaborate with Project Foreman’s to develop project timelines, goals, and resource allocation.

  Requirements

Requirements:

• 5+ years of Cable/Installation/Field Technician experience

• Fiber Optics

• Cat 5/Cat 6

• Ethernet cables (RJ45/RG6, Coaxial, Copper)

• Splicing fiber

• Terminating/certifying cables

• Installing servers in racks

• Punching down on patch panels

• Putting on head-ends

• Installing internet/security systems

• Structured cabling

• Able to terminate, certify, and pull the cables, as well as complete the entire wiring process for internet/security cabling projects.

• Cable Management Certifications

• Experience working inside IDF closets.

• Exposure to both Retrofit and New Construction environments

• Leadership experience
