Under general direction, protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities. Under general supervision, supports the professional clinical staff by providing direct patient care and performing duties as assigned by the RN. Prevents illness and injury. Advocates for patients and their families. Ensures all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient centered care.
Unit Specific Position Responsibilities
Attend and participate in 50% of department unit meetings.
Demonstrates understanding and proficiency of the use of the Avasys Telesitter Solution Software
Seeks help or advice as soon as possible when patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others. Participates in a collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety issues. Assures patient environment safety. Seeks assistance with removal of any potential safety hazard from room and reports findings to the RN.
When using Avasys Telesitter Solution Software maintains visual observation at all times. Verbally redirects patient over digital 2-way audio device that is in patient room. Immediately summons the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education):
Completion of 75-hour basic Certified Nursing Assistant Program or completion of at least one clinical rotation of a nursing program or comparable education, training and experience OR ER Department only- NREMT Certification.
Basic Life Support (BLS) training, or within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment.
Mandatory Reporter training or within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment.
De-escalation training prior to performing direct patient care or within 90 days of hire.
All clinical night staff routinely working between the hours of 2300 – 0700 that work in Acute Rehab, Med Tele, Med Surg, Birthways, PEDS, NICU, and Oncology will be required to take the combative patient response team training within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment.
Completion of Advanced Nurse Aide program.
High school diploma or GED

Ability to assist nursing personnel with patients; explain procedures and give information; skill in the use of specialized equipment and/or techniques; ability to detect abnormal conditions and report appropriately; able to function promptly and appropriately under stressful conditions.
