Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The Bioeconomy Institute (BEI) at Iowa State University is currently accepting applications for an Industry Collaboration Coordinator. The BEI coordinates Iowa State University’s research, education and outreach efforts in Biorenewables resources; and is internationally recognized for its programs in biomass feedstock production, biomass conversion to fuels and chemicals, and systems analysis. Funding is obtained from federal, state and industry sources. Major federal funding comes from the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the National Science Foundation.

The Industry Collaboration Coordinator will be assisting the BEI leadership team in building industrial research relationships through marketing, recruiting, proposal preparation and contract administration. The coordinator, in collaboration with the BEI leadership team, will be helping to develop and implement an effective needs assessment process to identify candidate companies for research partnerships; working with the BEI communications specialist to develop and execute a plan to market capabilities of BEI affiliated faculty; serving as a liaison with governmental units and non-governmental organizations (NGOs); and contributing toward the growth and maintenance of an industrial research portfolio at the BEI.

The successful candidate should have experience working in a collaborative environment, working with both industry and governmental partners, producing high quality and accurate end results, planning events or coordinating activities with business partners, and working knowledge of multiple software packages.

Required Education and Experience
