Renewable Energy Group Senior Analyst, Inventory in Ames, Iowa
The purpose of this job is to be responsible for monitoring and verifying inventory movements at terminals and plants, ensuring they are accurately reflected in JD Edwards. This position also assists with the month end process ensuring timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports. This position will be cross-functional and work with a number of departments outside of accounting in its effort to ensure timely, accurate and reliable reporting of the Company’s inventory and transactional flows. This position will require analysis and working with outside auditors.
Monitor daily transactions at terminals and transloaders
Re-class inventory as needed to keep inventory labels correct in JD Edwards.
Work with REG personnel to correct problems found at terminals, transloaders, & plants in JD Edwards.
Inventory Accuracy and Controls
Assist accountants with plant inventories as needed.
Monitor terminal shipping/receiving logs. This includes terminals that we have access to their databases that do not send reports.
Assist or complete inventory costing reviews (lower of cost or market; terminal analysis; etc.)
Set up new locations in JD Edwards when requested.
Set up new item numbers as requested following established policy and procedure.
Complete weekly inventory, analyze for accuracy and provide to necessary parties.
Monitor rail transactions in JD Edwards for accuracy
Complete monthly workpapers as assigned
Reconcile terminal and transload inventories to provide month end balances by branch plant for accountants to use in the inventory reconciliation.
- Work with Wells Fargo Auditor and Senior Manager Inventory to complete annual audit of the inventory used for the borrowing base.
Other frequent duties:
Being able to provide graphs and comparisons of inventory levels, shrinks and or gains
Analyze problems at terminals and work with the Tanks and Terminals team to problem solve.
Work with REG teammates in other departments (i.e. Internal Sales, Accounting, Rail….) to quickly correct problems and make improvements
Perform other duties as assigned
Education Required: 4 year bachelor’s degree - Accounting, Finance, or related business degree
Experience Required: 2-4 years corporate accounting experience
Advanced Excel skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Extensive math and accounting skills
Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
