Job Description:

The Tax Office seeks a Senior Tax Analyst to lead the tax office in operationalizing and executing strategic goals. The Senior Analyst will provide expert level guidance and services to all university students, faculty, staff, and administrators, as well as engage external stakeholders as necessary. In this role, you will formulate and maintain policies and guidelines for the university, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to develop action plans and objectives, for implementing appropriate processes and reporting. This position will plan, develop, and lead the administration of tax compliance as well as research and implement other tax related projects and initiatives for the university.

This individual will need to bring strong interpersonal, planning and communication skills to ensure tax compliance while supporting the mission and vision of the institution. This individual will be responsible for leading the tax office including personnel and financial resources allocated to the unit.

The tax office is an employing unit reporting to the Associate Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis within the Division of Operations and Finance. This collaborative office provides a unique perspective and will work across the institution to support a variety of activities, including tax-exempt and taxable bond compliance.

This position will be housed on-site at Iowa State University with the opportunity for hybrid work. The employee must reside in the state of Iowa on or before the start of employment.

The Unit of Financial Planning & Analysis supports Iowa State University's institutional financials in accounts receivable, budget, business systems analysis, tax and treasury operational departments. The Unit provides the primary support and analysis to university leadership in fiscal and budgetary policy development. The Unit offers and maintains high-quality treasury services to the University, including services for banking, cash management, bond indebtedness, investment, and oversight of the University's funds and endowments. The Unit coordinates tax advice to university units, assists/reviews the preparation and filing of university tax returns, and participates in developing policies with tax implications. Accounts receivable is responsible for all student billing and sends invoices and supporting documentation to outside (external to ISU) entities, agencies, etc., for services provided and not collected through the University Bill. The Unit focuses on the specialty of conducting complex research. Our team continuously provides the quality and breadth of services necessary for the University to flourish as an institution of higher education.
