Job Description
Do you love fabrication and using power tools? The Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking a Sign Fabricator 1. The Iowa Department of Transportation’s Mission isMaking Lives Better Through Transportation. To accomplish our Mission, the person selected for this position will demonstrate actions and behaviors guided by the Iowa Department of Transportation’s five CORE values:Safety First, People Matter, Customer Focused, Servant Leadership, and Integrity Without Exception.
As a Sign Fabricator 1, your duties will include, but are not limited to:
Hand-applying layout of text and symbols for road signs using blueprints.
Silk Screening Road signs.
Operation of a squeeze roller to apply reflective sheeting to substrate of signage.
Inventory & Warehousing of raw material and finished signs using a barcode radio system.
Using tools such as tape measures, rollers, scissors, saws, drill presses, grinders, sanders, power tools, and shearers in the manufacturing of signage.
Customer service.
Understand and apply OSHA standards.
Understand and apply MSDS contents.
Location: Sign Shop – Ames Iowa
Shift Requirements: Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
