Job Description:

Summary

The Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) at Iowa State University seeks qualified applicants for a Graduate Student Services Coordinator. Major duties and responsibilities of the position include managing graduate student assistantships, fellowships, and tuition payments, providing comprehensive support for current graduate students, coordinating the building space survey, and administering student evaluations of teaching.

The CCEE Department offers B.S. degree programs in civil engineering, construction engineering, and environmental engineering, plus M.S., MEng, and Ph.D. graduate degree programs in civil engineering and maintains externally funded research of approximately $17 million annually. CCEE supports the University’s Principles of Community.

This is a part-time position, three quarter-time, 30 hours per week. Work hours are flexible within the typical business hours of Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship. Example of Duties• Provides program or service support in department efforts to counsel, guide, and provide resources for students.• Assists in the delivery of services and programs for students such as scholarship coordination, disability services, academic success programs, and resources, etc.• Performs a variety of administrative support activities.• Ensures documentation and records are maintained.• May assist with coordinating events, marketing and communication, and creating resources.Level Guidelines• Senior-level position applies advanced and specialized expertise and competencies• Typically receives general supervision with high level guidance on the most complex assignments• Completes assignments which are moderately difficult or difficult• Resolves issues, including atypical issues, and makes recommendations• May lead projects of limited scope• Functions as “go to.” Responds to inquiries and requests from others inside and outside work area• May act as a lead, assigning tasks and providing guidance to lower level workers• May provide supervision to one to two other staff or lead a small work team• Provides guidance to students
