Position Description

McFarland Clinic is currently accepting application for Telecommunication Specialist for its Ames office. Candidates should be service-oriented, a team player, and be able to provide extraordinary care, every day to our patients.

Responsibilities include: Telecommunication Department is looking for a candidate that will work in the Telecommunication Help desk to assist staff with daily telecommunication issues, users moves adds and changes, structural cabling, etc.

Other duties include: Install and configure phones and VoIP technology. Remotely resolve phone issues. Develop and maintain a high level working knowledge of virtual and physical server environments. Clearly and professionally interact with McFarland Clinic Staff regarding status updates of pending tickets. Server as first point of contact on the telecom helpdesk. Maintain, configure and deploy pagers


  • Associates degree in networking, telecommunications or equivalent.


  • Valid driver's license and authorization to drive company vehicles by McFarland Clinic Auto Insurance carrier, if job assignment requires driving a company vehicle.

Days: Monday - Friday with occasional weekend and nights

Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM


  • 3 years of IT/Phone experience.

  • VoIP systems, Call Center and PC troubleshooting experience

  • Professional certifications are a plus but not required.

  • Familiarity with support and troubleshooting IT/Phone environments

  • Maintain a valid driver’s license

  • Must have an understanding and experience of Structural Cabling.

  • SIP trunking experience is a plus but not required
