GREATER IOWA CREDIT UNION Vice President of Finance/CFO in Ames, Iowa

We are currently seeking a Vice President of Finance/CFO that is responsible for directing all financial-related activities of the Credit Union in accordance with generally accepted accounting principals issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and other regulatory and advisory organizations in accordance with financial management techniques and practices appropriate within the credit union industry. This position ensures financial stability commensurate with the best interests of the members, employees and the Credit Union. The Vice President of Finance/CFO leads and develops the finance department and serves as an integral member of the Senior Leadership Team.Essential Functions Responsibilities:Plans, develops, implements, directs and evaluates the Credit Union's fiscal function and performance. Analyzes studies of general economic, business and financial conditions for use in making decisions relating to policies, operational goals, budgets, forecasts, investments and dividend rates.Provides timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, and financial trends in order to assist the President/CEO, Board of Directors, and other leadership team members in performing their responsibilities.Directs the Credit Union's organizational budgeting process including assisting the Senior Leadership Team and supervisors with budget preparation, monitoring and updating.Evaluates the finance division structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as provide individuals with professional development opportunities.Oversees the Credit Union's Asset Liability Modeling processes. Supervises and provides back-up support and oversight control as needed to the Accounting Manager. Serves on the Credit Union's Asset Liability Management Committee.Serves as one of the key points of contact for external auditors/examiners. Manages preparation and support of all financial instruments reviewed to ensure the Credit Union is in compliance with prescribed accounting methods as issued by the FASB, and other regulatory and advisory organizations within the industry.Provides strategic financial input and recommendations to both short-term and long-term growth and profit improvement plans of company; i.e. evaluation of potential acquisitions and/or mergers and investments. Partners with other team members to develop and deploy growth and profit improvement plans.Oversees and directs treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, owned real estate and insurance, and related accounting and finance activities for the organization. Performs risk assessment and control analysis on an ongoing basis.Knowledge and Skills:Experience: Eight to ten years of similar or related experience.Education: A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. CPA required, MBA preferred.Interpersonal Skills: Work involves extensive personal contact with members of the Board of Directors, community leaders, business leaders, and internal managers. Motivating others or getting them to do things that they might not do otherwise is a key to success for incumbents in this position.
