General Information
The City of Ames Parks and Recreation Department is currently accepting applications for Furman Aquatic Center Water Safety Instructors for the 2025 Summer Season!
Shift times vary with day and evening hours, weekdays and weekends, April through September.
Water Safety Instructors are directly accountable to the Shift Leaders, Recreation Assistant and Aquatics Manager, and adjunctly accountable to the Recreation Superintendent and the Director of Parks and Recreation.
Examples of Essential Job Functions
Teach water safety skills for various skill levels, as assigned; ensure safety of all participants; enforce all aquatic facility polices, rules and regulations; recognize and respond to any emergency situations; evaluate and record participants skills; inspect equipment before use and report any issues to lesson coordinator; complete and submit required reports of a swim lesson; and participate in scheduled in-service sessions.
