Safran Federal Systems Associate Software Engineer in Ankeny, Iowa

The Opportunity:

As a key member of our Engineering team, you will be taking the lead on designing and developing custom code for our products and programs in our R-PNT (Resilient Positioning, Navigation, and Timing) portfolio. Specifically, this means guaranteeing the reliability, safety, robustness, and lifetime of our product designs. You will be designing robust and resilient code in a fast-paced environment with the opportunity to design embedded software that enables next-generation R-PNT technology for government and military customers. You will develop unique solutions to extend legacy hardware functionality or do clean sheet code development for new custom designs.

How I will Contribute:

  • Designs and implements software for embedded systems and software applications inCandC++.
  • Designs software to meet customer requirements and performs systematic testing.
  • Reviews and recommends improvements to existing system designs.
  • Participates in final qualification of deliverables including validation of documentation.
  • Analyzes and corrects assigned defects, performs system failure analysis, and provides corrective action.
  • Contributes to overall software team success by following software and technology best practices.
  • Proposes prototypes to validate new concepts.
  • Reports status and shares knowledge with management or other team members.
  • Reports progress and risks to Engineering project management.
  • Analyzes project requirements and provides technical and functional recommendations.
  • Authors technical specifications.
  • May liaise with suppliers or customer for problem resolution.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring to the role:

  • The individual in this role will have a bachelors degree(B.S.) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, orrelated industry field.
  • Minimum of2 years of experience in a related role, preferred; combination of education and related experience will be considered.
  • Must be able to submit for a government security clearance within three months of date of hire.
  • Ability to maintain a government security clearance is required for this role.
  • Knowledgeof programming languages such asC/C++, Qtare required.
  • Knowledge ofLinux, Embedded Systems, SQL, Networking protocols, Git,Atlassian, Pythonare preferred.

  • A demonstrated abilityto think conceptually and communicate cross-functionallyis required.
  • A demonstratedability to remain poised under all circumstances, and to interact effectively with people in a positive manner that engenders confidence and trustwill be necessary to be successful in this role.
  • The ability to reason logically and make sound decisions, to consider alternative and diverse perspectives, to communicate effectively both orally and in writing is required.
  • The ability to interact appropriately with a variety of individuals including customers/clients is required.
  • Theindividualin thisrole needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • The individual must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • This individualneeds to have an ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Ability to be agile and have fun!
