Operate mills, blenders, Pre-batch, and process materials in a safe, efficient, effective manner consistent with company quality standards.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Process materials to meet daily production schedule most efficiently.
  • Check materials and mill room operations continuously for adherence to quality standards.
  • Check materials and Blending room operations continuously for adherence to quality standards.
  • Check materials and Pre-Batch operations continuously for adherence to quality standards.
  • Take product samples at appropriate times for bulk index and granulation testing.
  • Provide product samples to Technical Services.
  • Follow correct Aseptic sampling procedures for Technical Services.
  • Perform necessary production and inventory transactions to accurately reflect material movement, inventory status, and Lot management.
  • Perform job safety standards for PPE, LOTO, Fork lift safety.
  • Perform job sanitation standards: Sanitation breaks, and chemical application.
  • Perform job Quality standards: Allergen management, lot management, bulk index, and granulation testing.
  • Participate in continuous improvement.
  • Operate material-handling equipment safely and efficiently, to minimize risk to personnel and damage to inventory and equipment.
  • Perform routine battery changes on forklifts.
  • Assist in the training of new Processing Department personnel.
  • Perform routine sanitation breaks on Processing equipment: Tear down and Reassembly.
  • Perform accurate, timely record-keeping functions, including downtime and production recording.
  • Communicate effectively (verbally and written) with all personnel to maintain efficient operations.
  • Follow established procedures and provide input for continuous improvement.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Must have intermediate Mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be able to understand and establish an in-depth knowledge of the equipment for troubleshooting requirements.
  • Must be able to complete the teardown and reassembly of complex mechanical processes.
  • Must have intermediate math skills and be able to implement them under different scenarios.
  • Must be able to understand batch building and palletizing of ingredients.
  • Must possess or qualify for a forklift license.
  • Must be able to learn: AS400, PKMS, ATOMIC, and Software Systems.
  • Must be able to understand basic Microsoft Windows/word.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to maintain manual logs and handwritten documentation.
  • Must qualify in all areas of the processing department (Milling, Blending, Pre-Batch, and Material Handling).
  • Must be able to read and understand the Process text.

Throughout the training program, which may take up to 270 days, qualification will be determined by an oral questionnaire and or a written test on the above items.

Maintenance:

Responsible for identifying and reporting equipment needing maintenance attention thorough inspection:

  • Day-to-day operation, Changeovers, or sanitation breaks.
  • Responsible for replacing boots or socks when worn or damaged.
  • Responsible for replacing sifter screens when worn or damaged.

SQF:

Responsible for reporting any, and all food safety and quality concerns or problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.

  • Responsible for following cGMPs.
  • Responsible for maintaining cleanliness, sanitary conditions, and good housekeeping.
  • Ensure all food safety and quality records are completed accurately and timely.
  • Follow all appropriate equipment cleaning procedures.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

This position is in a manufacturing plant environment, works around moving mechanical parts, is exposed to airborne particles, works with toxic chemicals, and works around motorized vehicles.

Must be able to lift to 110lbs
