Job Summary: We are seeking a versatile Quality Control Associate (Swing Person) to support our lab and syrup room operations. This role involves performing microbiological testing, conducting sensory evaluations, and aiding batchers in the syrup room and lab technicians during normal operations. Additionally, the Quality Control Associate will be responsible for covering for lab technicians or syrup batchers in their absence.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct microbiological testing to ensure product safety and quality.
Perform sensory evaluations to product attributes and consistency.
Support batchers in the syrup room by monitoring processes and ensuring quality standards are met.
Assist lab technicians with testing and analysis during regular operations.
Performs qualitative and quantitative analysis of incoming, in process and finished materials using standardized procedures. These checks may include, but are not limited to visual, pH, Titratable Acidity, Brix, Organoleptic, Carbon Dioxide, Density, Total Dissolved Solids, Microbiological Sampling, and testing, etc.
Provide coverage for lab technicians or syrup batchers during absences, ensuring continuity of operations.
Perform standardized quality samplings and audits during production; organize collected data into electronic logbooks, databases, and report variances and non-conformities to plant management.
Document test results, inspections, and evaluations accurately.
Coordinate the preparation of syrup batches with the needs of the production lines.
Operate metering systems for water and liquid sugar.
Understand mixing, piping and valve systems.
Clean and sanitize tanks, pumps, hoses, and equipment.
Collaborate with team members to identify and implement quality improvements.
Participate in training sessions to enhance quality control skills and knowledge.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the lab and syrup room.
Qualifications
Experience & Qualifications:
High School Diploma, or GED equivalent, with at least 2 years of related administrative support experience. (Additional related experience may substitute for education.)
Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to research multiple, complex regulations and best-practices. Good problem-solving and multi-tasking abilities.
Ability to observe and understand processes, their inputs and outputs, and to accurately interpret data in order to develop viable solutions.
Exceptional organizational and strong follow-up skills. Must have excellent time management skills.
Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
Desired, but not required, experience includes:
Familiarity with regulatory compliance (FDA, USDA, etc.), food GMP, Food Safety, and Quality Management system principles
Familiarity with audits and food GMP
Familiarity of applicable regulatory and customer requirements (e.g. CFR 21, CFR 29, DNR, CCNA Kore Requirements)
Previous manufacturing or beverage industry
Flexible with the ability to adapt to varying situations, and to adjust priorities.
Ability to read, write, and sit for extended periods of time.
Excellent customer service skills, along with good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to professionally interact with a wide variety of departments.
Highly motivated self-starter, with the ability to work with minimal oversight.
Flexible with the ability to adapt to varying situations.
Good computer skills (MS Office) are needed.
Team-oriented with effective communication skills. Ability to effectively interact with multiple departments and employees is needed.
Regular, consistent attendance is an essential job function.
Additional:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position can be extremely active.
Although office-based, the role may involve some time on the production floor with an environment which includes wetness, heights, dust, moving equipment, vibrations, vapors, and loud noise. There are also high noise levels consistent with a fast-moving production environment. Required personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided.
Work hours will mostly be Monday-Friday role (7:00 am 7:00 pm) however some evening and weekend work may be required depending upon assigned duties and job demands.
This role is considered a safety sensitive position.
