Job Description

TITLE: Bus Driver

QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Valid license to drive a school bus. 2. Such additional health requirements as the Board may require. 3. Adheres to State and Federal Drug and Alcohol Laws regulations.

REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation and Superintendent

JOB GOAL:By providing safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the districts curriculum and cocurricular program.

ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS: ? Carries out Board Policy regarding district transportation; ? Reports to the bus garage at least 10 minutes before route time of time of the activity bus trip. ? Obeys all traffic laws. ? Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses, including bus evacuation. ? Drills twice a year. ? Maintains discipline when students are on the bus. ? Reports undisciplined students to the building principal. ? Keeps assigned bus clean inside and out. ? Keeps to assigned schedule as much as possible given daily driving conditions. ? Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects. ? Dresses properly for daily routes and activity trips representing the school district. ? Know the students; show interest; earn respect by being firm, fair, and consistent. ? Notifies the director of transportation in case of mechanical failure. ? Discharges students only at authorized stops. ? Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips. ? Transports only authorized students. ? Reports all accidents and completes required monthly reports. ? Enforces regulations on the bus. ? Complies with board policies regarding drug and alcohol regulations. ? Maintains confidentiality concerning students and all school matters. ? Promotes positive public relations with staff and community and works to support a positive image of the school district. ? Performs other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine month basis. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in writing by the Director of Transportation.
