Job Summary

Under the direction of Controller, provides lead support to the Accounting Department by applying the principles of accounting and financial reporting. Responsible for assisting with preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules of Hospital and the Foundation. Duties also include analyzing accounts and ensuring compliance with standard accounting procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Reads and posts daily and monthly G/L, A/P, BAR, M.M., Payroll, HC, and PCC batches. Closes G/L period daily and monthly.

• Process the Foundation restricted and unrestricted donations, annuities, endowments, capital campaigns, and yearly tax forms.

• Manages the accounts receivable for the hospital retirement facility and provides support to Property Manager.

• Monitors, reconciles, and inputs all capital assets, major capital projects, and construction in progress.

• Maintains and updates the Chart of Accounts and G/L dictionaries.

• Manages the accounting of contractual adjustments for all payers to assist with income statement and balance sheet projections and reconciling. Prepares the monthly analytical spreadsheets to reconcile contractual adjustments to the accounts receivable.

• Research and resolves account reconciliation.

• Assists the Controller with monthly financials and supporting schedules for annual audit and budget.

• Reconciles bank statements.

• Assists and oversees staff that prepare information for the monthly contractual adjustment processing and reconciling.

• Assists with department training as needed.

• May oversee the scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow of the Accounting Department in conjunction with the Controller.

• Works willingly and accepts assignments as given.

• Attends all mandatory meetings and programs.

• Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.

• Complies with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations, and Standards of Conduct relating to the position and agrees to report any suspected violations of law or Standards of Conduct.

• Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations.

• Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony's Safety Manual.

• Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.

Supervisor Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities, however, this role will act a lead in the Accounting Department and will assist in training employees as needed, and assist the Controller in ensuring accuracy of accounting data and applicable deadlines are met.

Education and/or Experience

• Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before customers, patients, families and employees of the organization.
