Job Summary

The Shipping/Receiving Clerk will manage shipping and receiving functions for the Organization and appropriately document all activity. This position will deliver receipted items to appropriate departments and perform courier services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Receives goods and verifies the quality and count of all items unloaded; checks against suppliers count and immediately reports discrepancies to carriers and manager, and/or others who may need to be aware.

• Unload trucks with a pallet jack for palletized merchandise.

• Verifies and records all items loaded for shipments.

• Carefully and accurately maintains shipping records.

• Maintains database of shipment data to ensure that orders are updated and that appropriate billing documents are provided to accounting or other associated departments as required.

• Notifies manager of major discrepancies, over-shipments, or substitutions.

• Completes information on damage claims for in-transit damage.

• Transports materials on shipping dock as needed.

• Delivers merchandise to designated areas using equipment provided.

• Loads trucks or railroad car using a forklift.

• Make delivers to post off, bank, and off-site locations.

• Package and prepare items for return.

• Assist with stocking by utilizing catalog number and mast list to locate proper bins. Restock using the FIFO (first-in/first-out) system.

• Assist with stocking bulk supplies on floors to maintain proper inventory levels.

• Daily cleaning of work areas to maintain a clean, safe, and professional environment.

• Assists in scheduled inventories.

• Uses safe, effective body mechanics in daily activities.

• Follows driver safety policies and procedures.

• May perform other clerical duties.

• Works willingly and accepts assignments as given.

• Attends all mandatory meetings and programs.

• Participates in opportunities that enhance personal and professional growth.

• Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.

• Complies with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations, and Standards of Conduct relating to the position and agrees to report any suspected violations of law or Standards of Conduct.

• Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations.

• Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony's Safety Manual.

• Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma, GED, or similar certification required, one year certificate from a college or technical school preferred; with one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Shipping, receiving, and/or warehouse experience preferred.

Position Requirements, Licenses, Certifications, Registrations

• Valid driver’s license.

• Permit for operation of forklift preferred.

• Ability to accurately sort, count, and verify items received.

• Basic understanding of railway, dock, and warehouse procedures.

• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or inventory software to maintain records, input data, and create reports.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, patients, families and the general public.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to access a variety of storage spaces and shelving units. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

The employee may be exposed to unpleasant sights, odors, and materials. The employee may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of radiation. The employee may occasionally be exposed to high, precarious places and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
