Position Description:

Supervises Upward Bound High School students in instructional classes, recreational activities, field trips and other events and provides tutoring as needed; mentors all students as needed, providing any assistance necessary to allow students to have a successful experience; conducts scheduled conferences with assigned students and submits completed forms to staff; assists other residential staff as needed; attends all required pre- and in-service training sessions and staff meetings; submits a three-page typed summative report; and attends an exit interview at the end of the Upward Bound Summer Program. Must be able to enforce rules, relate to high school students and report any problems to the Program Director.

The Upward Bound Summer Program runs from June 10-July 18, 2024. All summer staff will start on June 3, 2024 and conclude working on July 23, 2024 to accommodate training and program wrap-up. Part of the compensation includes room and board for the duration of the program.

Required Qualifications:

Required qualifications include college graduate or current college student of sophomore status or higher; ability to work with and mentor high school students; and ability to pass a criminal background check.

Desirable Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with diverse, low-income and first-generation high school students.
