GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The Desktop Configuration Administrator II (Desktop Config Admin II) is an experienced position that is responsible for managing and delivering operating systems and applications to the computer endpoint (Windows and MAC). The Desktop Config Admin II will lead the management of physical and virtual endpoints. This position requires strong customer service and relationship management skills, and is expected to document solutions to problems and work closely with the Help Desk, Desktop Technicians, and the System Administrators to efficiently resolve issues. The Desktop Config Admin must be self-directed, organized, and extremely attentive to details, and will be expected to show leadership and mentor less experienced Desktop Technicians.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate within a team of InfoSec professionals to further the security maturity of the college, specializing on desktop environments.

  • Manage and maintain current endpoint management platform for endpoint management

  • Manage the distribution of OS and application updates across campus

  • Strategize, standardize, and deploy OS upgrades across campus

  • Standardize application packaging and deployment processes

  • Manage the testing protocols to verify stability of security patches

  • Document SOPs for core processes and applications

  • Meet consistently with staff/faculty to coordinate department specific application updates

  • Manage licenses and license servers for metered software

  • Consult with departments on BYOD recommendations and configurations

  • Provide next level support to Desktop technicians for EDR solution

  • Train and serve as upper-tier support for the desktop technicians on application deployment

  • Serve as upper-tier support for full and part-time personnel in the computer lab in an effort to provide the best possible service to the users of the College’s facilities

  • Promote self service and coach end users to use self service when remote or desk side visit could have been avoided

  • Work closely with the System Admins to ensure consistent system support

  • Assist as needed in maintaining local and wide area networking

  • Provide 24/7 support for critical situations and assist with disaster recovery when necessary

  • Perform other related work duties as assigned

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in computer science or related field

  • 3 years of experience in Desktop Configuration Administration and demonstrated proficiency and technical competency

PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:

  • Microsoft certifications

  • Experience with SCCM, Intune or other endpoint management product
