ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Supervise employees and participate in the daily preparation and serving of good quality food.Supervise the security, storage, and proper handling of food and suppliesEnforce and maintain standards of cleanliness, health, employee practices, and safety in the cafeteriaOversee production and serving of meals, assists in the preparation of the meals.Assume responsibility for assuring that all equipment in the cafeteria is safe, clean and in good working conditionsComply with and make accommodations for students with special diets restrictionsDetermine necessary quantities for food and supplies, products, and submit orders on time.Plan daily work schedules and instruct cafeteria employees in performing their assigned tasksOversee employee payroll and personnel recordsEvaluate performance of cafeteria employees, as neededServe as the on-site Food and Nutrition resource for the principals, faculty members, parents and students. Positively represent the F&N Department and Cedar Rapids School DistrictFlexibility in working with staff, faculty members and students.Available to work or coordinate special events for community groups or district staff.Confer with the Food Service Manager/Supervisor regarding any personnel problems and implement suggested ways to resolve/manageMaintain open communication with all people served by the food service department.Participate in short courses, meetings, and in-service training, as requested.Process and complete all necessary paperwork or reports Maintain accurate records and submit requested reports to the central office.Available to work flexible hoursRegular attendanceOther duties as may be assigned

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds 0 to 12 feet and occasionally up to 20 feet, such as food trays, canned goods and frozen food packages. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as carts and food preparation equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus while preparing food

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee will frequently work in different areas of the kitchen and cafeteria performing their duties. Temperatures in the work area are consistently higher than the average found in the building. The employee will frequently stand or move on floors that are damp.
