DescriptioniArea Substance Abuse Council (ASAC) is seeking a dynamic, full-time Nurse Manager in Cedar Rapids to oversee the medical detox and crisis observation services at Linn Countyis new Mental Health Access Center.iiThe Nurse Manager will be an important contributor to the program, as they will develop, implement evaluate and promote services to help individuals who need a safe space for detoxification from alcohol or drugs or those experiencing a mental health crisis. Conducts performance evaluations and interviews. Makes recommendations for hiring, disciplinary actions, terminations, and promotions.Creates schedule for nursing staff and ensures adequate licensed nursing coverage for all programs as required by regulations. Assists with nursing duties as needed.Provides oversight and professional direction for 24-hour services for evaluations, observation, medical monitoring, addictions treatment and crisis stabilization.Completes/assists with intake process on all admissions into crisis observation and medical detox services.iUpon admission of a client, responsible for obtaining and sending releases of information to other treatment facilities, mental health units, doctors, hospitals and/or other referral sources to gather pertinent information regarding patient for counseling staff.Reviews individual care plans for each patient in care. Responsible for delivery of treatment activities to patients as indicated by treatment plans that concern medical issues.Assists with discharge process. Notifies referral sources when a patient leaves detox services against staff advice or discharges due to treatment non-compliance.Manages medication administration, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations. Creates and revises related policies and procedures as needed. Provides training and direction to ensure all policies and procedures are followed.iAdminister and chart prescription and non-prescription medications per doctoris orders. Oversees the medical aspects of patients including medications, physical health, and medical treatment. Consults Medical Director when necessary.Maintains strict confidentiality, in accordance with HIPAA and 42CFR.RequirementsiQualified candidates will have current RN license in Iowa with two years of experience in psychiatric care and some medical detox experience. This position requires a valid driver's license and the ability to pass an extensive background check.iiSalary and BenefitsASAC offers competitive compensation with an increase after a successful 90-day introductory period.
