Description

Robert Half is offering a Contract role in the construction industry located in CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa. This role involves critical functions related to payroll management and is a contract employment opportunity. As a Payroll Clerk, you will be processing employee payroll, verifying time reporting, maintaining records of paid time off, and other leave, among other duties.

Responsibilities:

• Accurate preparation and processing of payroll for employees.

• Configuring new hires in the payroll system.

• Calculating and processing payroll for employee terminations.

• Handling transactions and day-to-day administration for our 401(k) plan.

• Setting up and recording wage garnishment orders and payments, state and federal withholding payroll and unemployment taxes, and maintaining annual limit balances and rates.

• Balancing employee withholding and unemployment accumulations.

• Preparing W-2 information and notifying employees wishing to continue W4 exempt status each year.

• Completing and submitting federal, state, and local tax reports and payments, unemployment reports and payments, certified payroll reports, and other related reports.

• Setting up and processing prevailing wage payroll calculations when applicable.

• Monitoring employee records for paid time off and benefit information, processing position changes, location/field office changes, and wage changes.

• Transmitting payroll related transactions to third-party vendors.

• Reconciling all payroll related general ledger accounts, including employee accounts receivable.

• Processing manual payroll transactions such as variable compensation payouts, special payroll bonuses, employee termination payouts, late time, and corrections.

Requirements • Minimum of one year experience in a Payroll Clerk role or similar within the Construction/Contractor industry

• Proficiency in Accounting Functions

• Experience with Benefit Functions

• Familiarity with Check Processing

• Capability to Process Bi-weekly Payroll

• Experience in processing Weekly Check

• Proficiency in using Viewpoint Vista software

• Knowledge of Sales Tax

• Experience with Vertex Sales & Use Tax

• Understanding of Multistate Payroll operations

• Experience with Benefits Payroll

• Knowledge of Compensation & Benefits

• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
