GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The Pet Grooming Instructor is responsible for delivering a comprehensive educational program on pet grooming techniques, from basic to advanced skills. This role involves teaching various grooming procedures, overseeing practical sessions, and ensuring adherence to safety and health standards. The instructor evaluates student progress, updates course content, and maintains a clean and organized learning environment. Suitable candidates should possess professional grooming certification, experience in pet grooming or teaching, and strong communication skills.

The hours assigned for this position will fall between 8 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver comprehensive pet grooming education to students, covering all aspects from basic to advanced grooming techniques.

  • Teach online and/or in-person classes on dog and cat anatomy, breed identification, temperament assessment, and grooming tool usage, among others.

  • Supervise practical grooming sessions, ensuring students adhere to safety and sanitation guidelines.

  • Evaluate student performance through practical assessments and theoretical tests.

  • Maintain a clean and organized teaching environment.

  • Update course materials as needed to keep current with industry standards.

  • Provide feedback and support to students to enhance their learning experience.

Administrative Duties:

  • Assist with scheduling, equipment maintenance, and other administrative tasks as needed.

  • Ensure accurate record-keeping and documentation of student progress and program activities.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional certification in pet grooming from a recognized institution.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in pet grooming or as a grooming instructor.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively manage classroom dynamics.

  • Demonstrated ability to teach both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

  • Patience and dedication to student development and success.
