Rockwell Collins Inc. d/b/a Collins Aerospace has an opening for a Principal Engineer, Software Engineering in Cedar Rapids, IA. This is a hybrid position that requires working remotely up to 3 days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develops, coordinates, and conducts complex tests and debugs control and diagnostic systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.

• Liaises closely with other project team members in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercials software to ensure smooth operations on software engineering activities.

• Recommends changes in the selection and application of software production components to improve and develop software engineering activities.

• Designs and implements build procedures that are used to support hardware and software product development and function.

  Required Qualifications:

• Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Software Engineering or a related field and at least 8 years of progressive experience as a Software Engineering in the avionics industry. In the alternative, at least a master’s degree or its equivalent in Software Engineering or a related field and at least 5 years of experience as a Software Engineering in the avionics industry would be acceptable.

• At least 5 years of experience with developing software for real-time embedded systems using C and Matlab (Simulink) modeling languages.

• At least 5 years of experience with software verification, structural coverage analysis, and model coverage analysis.

• At least 5 years of experience with DO-178B/C development and certification processes.

• At least 3 years of experience with project planning.

  The salary range for this position is $119,454.00 to $196,000.00 per year. This is the correct compensation range. Please disregard any additional verbiage noted below pertaining to the salary range.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
