The Computing Products Department (CPD) has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Technical Project Manager . We are at the forefront of developing state-of-the-art avionics products, including integrated processing cabinets, displays, video processing modules, and control panels used in military fighter, fixed wing, and rotary wing aircraft platforms.

You will work closely with peer engineers, program management, manufacturing, and customers. This position is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and may be eligible for relocation assistance .

What YOU will do:

  • Manage p rogram s chedule and c ost p erformance

  • Collaborate across many engineering disciplines to execute program milestones

  • Provide technical leadership and project management of design & de velopment activities.

  • Ensure compliance with Collins Aerospace technical consistent engineering processes and product requirements.

  • Identify and lead cost reduction projects

  • Participate in bids and proposal efforts

  • Work a utonomous ly , organized, and efficient

  • Identify , resolve, and escalate project issues and risks to meet project deliverables

    Qualifications You Must Have:

  • A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience, or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

  • Previous experience as a Project or Program Manager with significant cost and schedule responsibility.

  • Ability to lead projects, pursuits, and bid activities, provide technical guidance, and motivate multi-disciplinary engineering teams

  • Experience in technical project management including schedule and earned value management , risk management, customer interaction, and briefing executive leadership.

    Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience in the Defense or Aerospace industry.

  • Proven leadership experience in developing ruggedized avionics products.

  • Experience with Avionics regulatory and certification requirements: TSO, MIL-STD, DO-160, DO-254, DO-178B/C

  • Exceptionally strong communication skills, experience presenting technical data to program management and executive leadership

  • Advanced Project Management degree or certification (PMP) .

  • Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.

    • Position is remote; however, if you live within a reasonable commute of a Collins site with other colleagues you interact with, your manager will discuss whether there is a degree of onsite presence associated with this role.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
