Senior Engineering Manager - Air Combat Training Datalink

Job Summary

The T&TI engineering department is responsible for the design, analysis, test and certification of Air Combat Training systems. We solve the challenges of next-generation pilot proficiency training so they can “Train as they Fight”. We field Test and Training range systems with state-of-the-art technology in cryptography, datalinks, navigation, communication, networking and command and control. We specialize in highly accurate, highly secure solutions for U.S. DoD customers. We are a system of systems development team that designs, integrates and supports some of the largest, most complex solutions offered by Collins Aerospace.

Job Responsibilities

This Senior Engineering Manager will lead a team of systems and software engineers to develop solutions for the Datalink Network Infrastructure . The Datalink Network Infrastructure enables data flow between all test and training range ground subsystems (simulators and weapon servers) and 4th and 5th Gen airborne tactical aircraft subsystems. Ongoing development includes the Datalink Controller and Transceiver software for the Tactical Combat Training System Increment II (TCTS II) and the Common Range Integrated Instrumentation System (CRIIS). Additionally, the team develops and maintains several test and analysis tools designed to help our range users troubleshoot and measure system performance.

The responsibilities of this role include employee development, talent acquisition and retention, resource management, strategic support of the business, and driving predictable program performance. This leader should be highly motivated, have a passion for meeting commitments, and flexibility to support a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Basic Qualifications

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 8 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements

  • Experience in the following areas of responsibility

  • Leading a team in defining requirements, developing systems and software architecture and design, performing subsystem- and/or software-level integration and verification

  • Understanding of networking principles (OSI layers, protocols, etc.)

  • Proficient with real-time embedded software utilizing C/C+

  • Bidding, planning and managing project budget, schedule, and scope

  • Creating collaborative team cultures that drive predictable program performance to consistently meet business and customer commitments

  • Communicating effectively to a host of stakeholders across the technical spectrum, including customers, program management and senior leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with information assurance and the NSA Risk Management Framework

  • Experience developing in the Agile framework

  • Familiarity with DevSecOps

  • Experience with SEER bid estimating methodology

  • Experience with FACE development

  • Preferred applicants will currently hold a Secret (or above) security clearance, or have held one within the past two years
