Staff Systems Engineer - Mission Systems Multi-Domain Operations

Strategic Integrated Solutions is seeking a strong Systems Engineer to assist with our Connected Domain Solutions business area to help provide solutions and capabilities aligned to the vision of Multi-Domain Operations (MDO) and Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2). The Joint All-Domain Operations vision for command and control is, JADC2, the art and science of supplying data to assist in the decision-making process to achieve operational and informational advantage in the integrated battlespace. It is the natural extension of C2 across domains (Air, Land, Sea & Space) and Service components. The DOD’s vision calls for connecting distributed sensors, shooters, and data from all domains to joint forces, enabling coordinated exercise of authority to integrate planning and synchronize convergence in time, space, and purpose.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work across organizational teams to integrate capabilities to meet the needs of this evolving market space.

  • Assist creating MDO/JADC2 capability white papers and technical proposals

  • Use modeling tools to analyze scenarios and architectures

  • Ability to integrate different technologies to create advanced capabilities for demonstration purposes to meet customer needs

  • Experience decomposing customer requirements to identify technology gaps, and create technical documents to support existing work and pursuit activities.


  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline (STEM highly preferred) and 7 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 11 years of relevant experience is required.

  • Proven system architect comfortable with developing system concepts and missions, performing architecture trade studies, and generating requirements for flow-down

  • Experience with multi-level cross domain data exchange and secure processing

  • Experience in training and mentoring less experienced engineers

  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with customers and other companies to maximize the system benefit

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills - translate technical ideas into business concepts.

  • Motivated self-starter, able to meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives with minimal oversight

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current/Open US Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance

  • Knowledge of Collins architectures used by different platforms

  • Experience with systems/software modeling languages (SysML, UML, AADL, or equivalent).

  • Experience with visual modeling and design tools (Enterprise Architect or equivalent).

  • Experience with DoD open systems architecture and protocols (FACE, JCA, HOST, etc) is required.

  • Strong level of understanding of the Collins bid process.

  • Experience in technical proposal writing.

  • Make/Buy Decision-making and trade study experience.

  • Experience working systems on Pro Line Fusion architectures
