Job Description:

Job Title: Human Resources Generalist, Manufacturing

FLSA: Non-Exempt

General Function:

The Human Resources Generalist performs duties on a professional level in some or all of the following functional areas: recruiting/hiring, onboarding, benefits administration, leave management, employee relations, compensation, organizational development, performance management, policy implementation, communications, and training. Other duties may be assigned.

Reporting Relations:

Accountable and Reports to: Human Resources Manager

Positions that Report to you: None

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure legal compliance throughout Human Resources Management

  • Knowledge of the leave requirements and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA, ADA, CFRA, and other applicable laws.

  • Knowledgeable in HR policies and procedures

  • Comprehensive understanding of HR best practices and federal, state and local employment laws/regulations including leave administration, ADA, accommodations and investigations, such as harassment

  • Strong knowledge of hiring processes and recruiting.

  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).

  • Strong business and HR acumen; sound judgment, critical evaluation, analysis and problem-solving abilities.

  • Customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism and discretion.

  • Excellent interpersonal, consultation and communication skills (oral and written) with a high degree of business acumen.

  • Strong organizational skills with a keen ability to prioritize and manage several projects concurrently.

  • Must be able to work both independently and as a team player.

  • Must exhibit ethical practice, honesty and integrity as well as demonstrate adherence to rules, procedures and policies.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in coordinating and often conducts quarterly part-time employee meetings.

  • Assists in coordinating store events (Holiday party, Springtime Party, etc.).

  • Assists with coordinating store Service Award program for FT/RT/PT employees.

  • Conducts tours of store for schools and civic organizations.

  • Orders supplies for office and departments.

  • Assists in other areas of commissary as needed.

  • Performs other job related duties and special projects as required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:

  • Must have the ability to solve practical problems; variety of variables with limited standardization, and interpret instructions.

  • Ability to do arithmetic and calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.

  • Must possess the ability to interview, counsel or advise people; evaluate data, compose correspondence.

Education and Experience:

High school or equivalent experience, plus 2-3 years of other schooling. At least 6-months of similar or related work experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to physically perform medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 20 pounds of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.

  • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions:

This position is occasionally exposed to chemicals/solvents. This is a fast paced work environment.

Equipment Used to Perform Job:

Computer, Kronos (Time and Attendance software), Workday (HRIS), Microsoft Word, Outlook, calculator, phone, fax, copier, lotto machine, two wheeler, and box cutters.

Contacts:

Has daily contact with employees, suppliers/vendors, and the general public. Has occasional contact with federal or state regulatory agencies regarding inspections.
