Description:

Position Purpose

Answers and routes incoming calls, assisting with in house and outgoing calls. Admits all patients authorized by physicians, through the admitting process. Gathers pertinent information and authorizations to start flow of information; record keeping, patient treatment, charging system, billing and collection process. Gathers patient valuables. Supplies general information and direction. Ages of patients served ranged from pediatrics to geriatrics.

What You Will Do

  • Gathers pertinent information and authorizations to start flow of information; record keeping, patient treatment, charging system, billing and collection process.

  • Discusses advance directives, financial assistance forms, durable power of attorney.

  • Gathers patient valuables.

  • Answers and routes incoming calls, assisting with in house and outgoing calls.

  • Supplies general information and direction.

  • Demonstrates proficiency on office equipment including computer, badge reader, fax machine, forms printer, calculator, phone system, copier, paper shredder, label printer, switchboard.

  • Responds to code calls according to departmental procedures.

  • Monitors and distributes keys to various departments.

  • Follows procedures for overhead paging.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

  • Past work experience of at least (6) six months within a physician office, hospital or clinic environment, performing registration activities or an insurance company, performing payer activities are highly desired but not required.

  • Must possess excellent communication skills and ability to maintain a calm professional manner in stressful situations.

  • Must be able to keep basic records and statistics.

  • Must have knowledge of filing systems.

  • Must be able to demonstrate basic computer skills in a Windows environment.

  • Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.

  • Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission and vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.
