Position Purpose

The Polysomnography Technologist is responsible for performing standard and complex polysomnographic recordings and multiple sleep latency testing in a manner consistent with the philosophy, objectives, standards of care, and procedures of sleep lab services.

What You Will Do

  • Performs job functions in an accurate and thorough manner.

  • Exercises professional judgment in dealing with physicians, patients, and other health care professionals.

  • Performs standard and complex polysomnographic recordings: obtains relevant patient history, prepares patient for test, makes appropriate calibration of equipment, and collects data appropriately.

  • Accurately analyzes polysomnographic studies, scores, and plots results.

  • Scores and documents data, assesses, applies and titrates CPAP or BiPAP.

  • Maintains complete and accurate records and files.

  • Serves as a resource for physicians, peers, and customers.

  • Participates in orientation, in-service education, and departmental quality assurance activities.

  • Demonstrates ability to operate and titrate oxygen, CPAP and BiPAP.

  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of EEG waveform recognition, especially as it relates to sleep.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited program in Neurodiagnostic Technology or Respiratory Care Technology.

  • Must be credentialed as RCP, CRT, RRT, REEGT or Board Registered Polysom Technologist or registered within one year of hire.

  • Must be licensed by the State of Iowa.

  • Must be BLS certified within 3 months of hire.

  • Must be able to demonstrate basic computer skills in a Windows environment.

  • Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
