GENERAL SUMMARY :
Supports the professional clinical staff by providing direct patient care and performing studies and tests as assigned by the physician or clinical staff. The duties may vary by shift or may be clinic specific.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Demonstrates ability to recognize and assess urgent/emergencyneeds of patients and initiate appropriate emergency procedures as needed.
Demonstrates current level of knowledge ofvarious payor regulations by functioning within those guidelines.
Acts to facilitate interdisciplinarycommunication. Utilizes other members ofthe health care team in assessing the patient and analyzes patient data. Assesses learning needs of the patient andsignificant others. Gives accurate andcomplete information to patient and family.
Maintains appropriateaseptic technique.
Follows clinicprocedure/protocol for the organization and management of the electronicmedical record (i.e. test results, retrieval, filing, creation, repair,charging of electronic medical record).
Reports results andpertinent information to patients and health care team members.
Performs basic clinicalduties such as rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, height and weight, andcollection of basic patient data in the clinic or on the telephone as assigned.
Assists with a variety ofminor procedures, collects and labels lab specimens according to protocol andperforms basic lab and clinic testing procedures (i.e. EKG, glucometer,etc.)
Transports patients asnecessary
Assists with roompreparation in between patient visits.
Communicateschanges/information regarding patient’s condition to the clinical staff.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLSAND ABILITIES REQUIRED :
Completion of one of the following:
A 75-hour/120-hour certified Nursing Assistant Program
A 136-hour certified EMT program.
An accredited Medical Assistant Program.
An accredited Radiography Technology Program (for limitedradiography) and possess a State of Iowa Limited Radiographer Certification.
High School diploma or GED.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Basic Life Support (BLS)for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) monthsof hire.
Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abusetraining specific to population serve within three (3) months of hire.
