Job Summary / Purpose

Essential Key Job Responsibilities
Cleans and disinfects patient, ancillary and public areas as assigned daily following established procedures.
Operates manual, battery-powered and electric equipment such as mechanical floor cleaners and vacuums. Maintains and stores all equipment in a safe, sanitary manner.
Collects, handles and disposes of designated waste streams and soiled linens in the prescribed manner.
Completes stat and routine discharge room cleans.
Adheres to all hospital required Safety, Risk Management and Infection Control practices
Identifies and reports work orders for maintenance/refurbishing needs.
Inspects EVS equipment for cleanliness and need for repair.
Provides support with the training and orientation of new employees.
Greets and directs visitors, patients and staff. Provide assistance as needed.
Attends all meetings and training sessions as required.
Completes all mandatory education requirements.
Follows established hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Initiates and promotes quality improvement, seeking to meet customer requirements and cost efficiency.
On occasion may perform duties of Linen Tech.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Required Education for Staff Job Levels
High school or GED preferred
Basic reading and writing skills required in order to understand and use chemical labels, SDS sheets, OSHA standards, isolation procedures, written instructions and departmental policies.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively and courteously with supervisors, visitors and staff in order to promote good relationships and assist in training other employees.

PREFERRED Qualifications
One year healthcare/cleaning experience is preferred.
Basic knowledge of computer skills preferred.
Pay Range
$15.00 - $20.33 /hour
